New Secure STM Applications and Rates Now Available! 10/1/06 effective dates

New applications are available today for HPA’s Secure Short-Term medical insurance.

The updated applications feature an exciting new approach to underwriting by Standard Security Life to help streamline the case submission process and can be accessed at www.hpa-inc.com

What’s new with the STM applications?

The prior coverage decline question has been changed to “Has any person applying for coverage been declined for health insurance for a condition that is still present?”

The previous question asked if an applicant was declined for health insurance in the past 12 months.

A new question was added regarding weight of the applicants. Limits are liberally set at 300 lbs. for males and 250 lbs. for females.

The health conditions question has been revised to bring you:

  • An improved, easier-to-read format. The new bulleted-list of conditions provides a quick-glance reference for applicants.
  • A more comprehensive list of eliminating conditions. The following conditions have been added:
Abnormal test report, follow-up care, kidney disorder other than stones, psoriatic arthritis, and degenerative joint disease of hips.

What this Means to You
Paper Applications: These new applications should be used for all new Secure STM cases.

For your convenience, HPA will accept the older paper application through October 1, 2006.
Applications for coverage received on the old forms after this date will need to be
resubmitted using the new application.

Online Applications / Your Personal Quoting Webpage:
The questions on your online quoting page will reflect the changes to the application on October 1, 2006.

Rate Changes
Rates for the $250 and $500 deductible options have been increased. Additionally, overall rates for 6- and 12-month plans have increased 4% and 7%, respectively. The new rates are also effective October 1, 2006 and can be viewed at www.hpa-inc.com.
